Trying to fix my relationship with the UK
Brexit didn’t help
I’m Scouse and rebellious (in terms of challenging things)
But I know there’s loads of good parts of the UK and good people
No city or country is perfect
I don’t hate any city or town (hate is a horrible word)
I see myself as a citizen as the world
A Spanish speaker too
I worked studied/worked so hard to be so
I love multi culture and diversity
And hate ignorance
To be honest I don’t really get patriotism (well I do and I don’t)
That doesn’t make a bad person
The establishment can be challenged
And I’m grateful that we can challenge it
History doesn’t interest me that much
The present and future very much does though
So maybe I’m futuristic
I appreciate what I have
I find foreign languages and cultures interesting
But I’ll try to respect those who are different to me from a political point of view
No political party is perfect
I’m not voting for the Tories though
And never have
Some people don’t get it
From our perspective
But there’s loads of food banks all over the country
And people are still homeless
Whilst there’s more millionaires in the UK than ever (apparently)
‘Feed the Scousers’ is no joke
Nor is poverty mate
Football fans have more to unite over than people think
Two sponsors on football tops now
Ticket prices are through the roof
It’s sound to enjoy it when Liverpool don’t win (as a non Liverpool fan)
Or Everton too
Football is a game
Rivalry is part of it
I love it when my team (Liverpool) scores and wins
The cost of living is going up
Bus ticket and train ticket prices have gone up over the years
I feel for so many people
You don’t have to agree with everything I say
I get stuff wrong
Who doesn’t
There’s a bus strike here
2/3 weeks in now pretty much (what is time)
I’m walking everywhere or paying loads for a train return (but I’m lucky, there’s so many people worse off)
(Don’t judge me please, I’m helping the environment)
I know I want to try fix this relationship (I’m * not * going to wave a Union Jack but I know loads of sound people from the UK and abroad )
I don’t know if I can
I can’t help it
Scouse is my identity
But I appreciate so much about the UK really
NHS
IDLES
90s Brit pop
Supergrass
Blur
Oasis
Countless amazing bands (from everywhere)
Comedy (so many amazing comedians and sitcoms)
But I try to be sound
Care
And have a laugh
A little bit of cheeky Scouse rebellion is part of the fun for me (I’m about love and joy really)
