Relating To JD Falls & More! Enjoying Getting Sensitive & In Touch With My Feelings Again
It is like anything when it comes to TV, music, sport or films. We like different things, whatever works for each person – we like what we like – sometimes it is a generational thing, nostalgia or where you get some comfort or inspiration from. As someone who is conscious of the modern and sensitive times that we are living in – in 2025, and someone with emotional intelligence, I consider people’s feelings. I am human though, like anyone else is, so I have emotions and they can be tested on a daily basis – so the Amygdala hijacks the brain or emotions or something – am I just saying psychology words now – maybe – prefrontal cortex, neutrons etc.
Well, humorous one liners aside, in basic terms we can see the red mist sometimes – so to speak – thankfully for most people it is getting irritated by something really trivial such as running out of kitchen roll or something like that.
Scrubs can be viewed on ITVX (in the UK) – is seemingly still on there – it is absolutely amazing. it chills me out.
As mentioned earlier on in the post, I have emotions, and trust me for all of the psychology books that I have read, psychology podcasts listened to, psychology articles read etc – there is not a chapter on how to stay calm when a shop does not have item x, y or z or whatever.
In a curious sort of way, for all of the stay calm stuff I think having a siege mentality can be useful too, it can be used as extra motivation; I have some really good work and felt extra motivated when I was angry in all honesty – these days maybe it is harder to say that but it is true.
You see it in football, in the WSL (Women’s Super League), in the Premier League or in other leagues of competitions.
When a team or an individual has an edge, it can be a huge advantage.
It can go either way do not get me wrong – it is a double edged sword.
I have literally been annoyed by so many things and it made me more motivated – I got loads done – and it made me appreciate what I love even more so.
That said, and you may be able to see or feel my confliction here, on balance it is arguably better to be ‘calm’.
And generally speaking I am just that.
And as much as I think of mantras like TCUP (think correctly under pressure), like anyone I can get annoyed by some things but I am very much looking to use any negatives by putting it into positive things – turning negatives into positives – and looking more at things that I admire, that I am passionate about and things that I am able to influence or have a say on as much as anything else – and that is what I am doing.
There is a point here, wait for it.
After coming back from difficult things, having had negative experiences at different points of my life and experiencing loss – I know things can get better – and without wanting to sound too cheesy but beautiful things can emerge from rubbish situations or experiences.
As a naturally glass half full person, I enjoy getting enthusiastic about things and generally that is what I am about!
It is a bit like in football – you can read all the stats and economics in football books , articles about tactics in the world – and I have!
Not literally all, obviously not, but many for sure.
But the point is, not every team wins every single match and sometimes the ball hits the post or it is literally is a bounce of a ball that decides a football match.
Back to Scrubs then!

Feelings:-
Some journals of mine at the time (earlier on im the year):-
‘Feel a bit lonely, but liking my space – things are going well, stay positive – lots of walking today, aprox 5 hours worth, got my ‘boring’ dark chocolate, herbal tea etc. Cosy, warm, hoody on!’
| Thoughts, Reflections & Ethics |
The show was pretty much on during the 2000s so some jokes could have aged better but there we are, at the end of the day it is a fantastic show and one with so much love, care & decency.Jokes all these years on are are seen by many as ‘innocuous’. Sometimes I am too mindful of this stuff! It could be a positive thing in some ways. Anyway, the way I see it the show is really funny, quirky and adorable – did I really just writing adorable – yes.
Keeping that in.
No one is perfect, we can all keep getting better & have more awareness on social issues.
However, we do not live in a Utopia, and we need to have a laugh or to relax or to unwind.
It is literally a coping mechanism. And the beauty is, with art, we can interpret things in different ways.
This is a show with so much depth.
It has so much diversity in it, it is not overly commercialised or manufactured to tick boxes – it is pure, orginal & authentic.
It is a beautiful show.
It is quite simply genius.
This is the bit about guest stars now or who were on other shows / films / other – so you got Courteney Cox – appearing in the show for one or two episodes and you have Leslie David Baker (Stanley from The Office – US).
Great quotes Or lines (may be paraphrased!) ‘Look into your heart, do what makes you happy & to hell with what people think’
Kelso
‘When you do what makes you happy everything else falls into place’
JD
‘Nothing worth having comes easy’
Kelso
‘If you get to anyone make feel better then you are lucky’
JD
(That could be interpretated from a mental perspective)
‘How it is really about overcoming your fear because the truth is every time you take a big risk in life no matter how it ends up you’re always glad you took it’
JD
| Even More Notes |
From earlier on in the year again:-
So, perhaps the true purpose watching of Scrubs again – aside from entertainment – so quickly it is becoming apparent. And not just because it is on the ITVX – and I do not have Netflix. It is an outlet – watching a sitcom. Or watching it & writing notes at the same time is useful. Because the truth is I do not feel like I have many people to talk to.Well, I have lots of people to talk to but that is more in a day to day or transactional way. [ Got my dull dark chocolate & herbal tea here, thank goodness. ]Back to what I was writing before. Rubbish weather, walking helps, staying active etc as not got a gym membership, too pricey, but if you cannot outspend them, then outthink them! Even walking when it is freezing in shorts – not particularly recommended! Or sunny or whatever – gets me from A to B. Well, happy with the football side of things. That is for sure. What a season. More notes, oh my feelings:
‘Keep adapting, keep up with trends, keep getting ahead of the curve. Great how Scrubs breaks the 4th wall by the way. What a show. Waiting for The Shins song to come on soon. This is a fantastic rebuild (my life that is). Stay present, so much is working. Same Insta pic etc. Could change it to a newer one or a group one or something. Probably best keeping it as it is. Take one day at a time.It is simple as that.
More of me chatting – or typing – broken biscuits in my notes –
Take one day at a time. It is simple as that.
Talking broken biscuits – as far as I am aware this is a Scouse/British saying – it may be – basically it means to be almost saying anything or rambling on or ramblings (or talking rubbish or more rather you could something like I could be talking broken biscuits but – in a way it is a nice way of being self-deprecating)
Build on those days out in Chester & that – are not happening every day but walks, eating well, great habits etc are doable. Watching this while writing notes.
| 09/06/25 |Watching it again since things are a lot better in my life. Amazing show, so funny and profound. Relax, enjoy, don’t worry about a thing.
Glad to say things are so much better now, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Other – there is a Scrubs podcast on YouTube called ‘Fake Doctors, Real Friends‘ with Zach Braff & Donald Faison (JD & Turk)
| Extra Bits |
It has been interesting looking back on these notes, I have not necessarily always been great at looking back at things, like old photos as I tend to stay present or look forward.
Maybe sometimes; and as strange as it may sound or as counter intuitive as it could sound, sometimes it can help to ‘lower expectations’ – to be happier.
This is something I am trying to do a bit.
Enjoy the little things more.
One thing that I do know is that is, too much or unnecessary pressure or expectation is often counter productive – and – as much as anything it is seeing opportunities as it is to caving to to ‘FOMO’ (fear of missing out)’.
Well, that is my take.
Another thing is, for me, is that sometimes when something is a ‘free swing’ rather than a ‘must do’ – then that can very much help me do better.
Maybe you are familiar with Scrubs, or want to relive the janitor & co!
