With a core of teams such as Brentford, West Ham United and Aston Villa likely to feature in GW29, as well as playing this GW against struggling opposition, this week’s XI is a bit alternative yet with several established names included for good measure.
Also, with another double gameweek on the horizon with Bournemouth and Luton (in GW28) involved there is the inclusion of Dominic Solanke.
Ollie Watkins joins Erling Haaland as captain – 1st for goals scored and xG (Total) – the Norway international has numerous braces away from home to his name this season (both the aforementioned Watkins and Haaland are in in the top 3 for most points from forwards in 2023/24).
In fact, all 3 of this week’s front 3 are the top 3 forwards in FPL this season (most points).
Vice captain for this week’s selection includes in form Bukayo Saka (back to back to braces), Sheffield United’s enabler and/or possible value pick James McAttee (possibly on penalties/set pieces) and Wolves forward Neto (argubly Wolves’ main option for Wolves at present in terms of minutes/form) may be a favourable option this gameweek given that Wolves remain the top goal scoring team in the bottom half (39 goals scored in 25 Premier League matches in 2023/24).
Jarrod Bowen may feature centrally or cut in from the right as he looks to add to his tally as the league’s 4th top goal scoring midfielder (11) at the time of writing.
Given that there is a lack of clean sheets about this campagn (in an overall sense), this week’s back 3 consists of wing backs/full backs.
Mark Flekken is selected with a view of potentially making saves in order to pick up bonus points but with a possibility of clean sheets in coming weeks (set to play in GW29).
Bench options are cheap, partly to avoid bench headaches but with a view of gameweeks to come.
Former also Atlético de Madrid defender Kieran Trippier features given his attacking abilities (and he is the defender with the most points this season).
This post was partly produced through memory, but also with the use of official Fantasy Premier League, FBREF and Transfermarkt.
Please note that SkyFF posts are likely to follow this weekend – some transfers may be made with this gameweek in mind given that Chelsea, Luton Town and Liverpool are not involved in Premier League action this weekend – some players that have not been included in this week’s XI may feature in my SkyFF Half Season Experiment team (transfers may be made before any given match begins).
And in addition to this, tables will be updated as soon as possible.
