Some transfers could be made this weekend, especially with Sunday in mind.
Otherwise, this is the core of a team that I want or need to keep.
Flexible planning is in play.
Liverpool, Luton Town, Manchester City and Brentford play twice in GW28, hence numerous players from said teams featuring in this team.
Liverpool is represented by Virgil Van Dijk as he has potential to score big this week.
Virgil Van Dijk and Rodri attract Passes Tier, and both players are in the top 10 for acc passes per game according to SofaScore.
Liverpool and Chelsea contest the League Cup final in coming weeks, so this is a conscious decision to only have a player from each side.
Erling Haaland currently has the armband, as the Premier League top scorer, currently on 14 goals at the time of writing.
Phil Foden is in top form, and whilst Kevin De Bruyne does not start he can absolutely be impactful as a substitute and has 2 matches next gameweek.
Luton Town look to continue their impressive form, and with Sheffield United at home and 2 matches next gameweek, as well as a set of good fixtures overall Thomas Kaminski, Alfie Doughty and Elijah Adebayo offer upside.
Darwin is an option but has not scored at home in a Premier League match for several months, so it looks like that I am sticking to the plan, and looking to be resourceful by saving transfers when possible.
I may look to transfer out Pedro Porro for a matchday captain for Sunday, after keeping Porro for today’s matchday (10/02/24), also in part to keep a core players with 2 matches in the next GW.
Ben White looks like a steady option given his ability to get Passes Tier in an Arsenal team that tend to have more possession than their opponents on any given day, plus White may play at right back with opportunities to venture forward.
Arsenal currently are joint 1st for best defence in terms of least goals conceded (22) in the Premier League in 2023/24 (level with Liverpool) and are 1st for xGA stats with an xGI of only 17.5 after 23 matches played.
Cole Palmer is currently on 10 league goals, and offers a captain option as good as any for Monday Night Football.
