Quick Fire FPL GW23 XI/ SkyFF Half Season Experiment (Potentially The Next FPL Template/The Template Breaker) Post

The core of previous XI (Wildcard in mind) remains (a few new names make it in this GW) / Transfers/changes could occur in GW26 (option of 5 is there) / posts may or not be posted across the weekend.

DGWs are very much in mind for many fantasy football managers (FPL/SkyFF), some annoucements are yet to be made, but some organised chaos can very much be applied if needs be.

When thinking of the ‘there are things we know, think and hope’ line – to paraphrase – Brentford and Manchester City definitely do have a DGW in the bag.

With this is mind, 4 players from said teams make the XI this week as Brentford Vs Manchester City may turn out to be a high scoring match on MNF (Monday Night Football), so Ivan Toney (captain), Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland feature.

Brentford have conceded 20 goals at home in the Premier League in 2023/24, with Manchester City being joint top goal scorers in the league away from home this season.

Dominic Solanke, Cole Palmer, Diogo Jota and Aflie Doughty represent teams who may well have DGWs soon enough – when not if in all probability given that they have matches in hand in the league table – and play for sides who are in goal scoring form and/or play progressive football/able to counter quickly/are capable of scoring multiple goals in any given match (broadly speaking).

In regard to this XI, there is also an element of priorities in terms of effective ownership (a semi template approach).

The XI is clearly set up with attacking attentions, with Pervis Estupiñán and Pedro Porro included for good measure.

Alphonse Areola continues his good form (saves wise) as a budget set and forget goalkeeper of sorts.

Bench options Martin Dubravka, James McAttee, Antonee Robinson and Mitchell also fit in to that category, with this XI/squad leaving aprox 1.1 ITB (flexible planning with potentially big names such as Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-min to return to Premier League action fairly soon).

Re SkyFF (Sky Sports Fantasy Football), transfers may or may not be made depending on team news overnight, seeing line ups before matches etc.

The title of this post is a little tongue in cheek, but I am very much enjoying going different in SkyFF this year (I have a license too in many ways).

Yes, it is a SkyFF team, and the aim is to keep landing the captains, picks, and to continue to keep getting green arrows but it is with a view to FPL too.

It is refreshing to let my hair down by embracing some organised chaos and seeing how it goes matchday to matchday – to a point – flexible planning (or organised chaos).

But of course, onematch day at a time.

The focus stays on the fantastic SkyFF game itself, especially with potential points for in play actions such as Shots Tier, Passes Tier and Tackles Tier.
