6 Ways To Make Your Day Better (Outward Thinking With A Hint of Light Hearted Humour)

1. Listen to music it is basically scientifically proven that music improves your mood (pretty much) – I am conscious of how people may have different circumstances (budget wise) – so you can find numerous videos on YouTube (I honestly think studies need to be done on how The Prodigy makes people run quicker and how The Beatles or 60s Psychedelic music about love picks up your mood).

2. Speak to friends I notice an unbelievable difference after I have actually socialised in person – or had a positive interaction with someone – and if possible have more open chats (not always easy I know).

3. Go for a walk (in a park if possible) – just moving a bit is something (sitting down is bad for you unless you are watching footy or something) and it is good for you (even just for 10 or 15 mins can help) – you could download the Samsung Health app (free) to count your steps – I’ll stand up in a minute.

4. Control what you can control to use the TCUP (think clearly under pressure to paraphrase) mantra or word or whatever – think what can I do in this moment to affect things in a positive way – and find something interesting about even something that is seemingly dull (I even like hoovering and taking out plates these days).

5. Write things down it may be a to do list or writing down things that you are feeling positive about – typing notes in your phone is useful I find – I am finding that a proactive and a can do positive attitude is working really well for me.

6. Be positive (appreciate what you have) – it is not always easy but I will choose positivity over negativity any day (I am seeing more positives than negatives now) – studies have basically been done on how positivity is quite literally a helpful thing (where there is a will there is a way) – I think now more than ever we need to remember that we do have more control than we may think (positivity is needed if you ask me).

* I am aware of how everyone’s mental health, circumstances differ and how our brains operate differently, therefore this was a way of trying to produce a positive post as much as anything else

** A quick mention for the ‘Huberman Lab’ podcast – I have genuinely learnt a lot from that recently
