Bands Or Artists Who Make Me Focus Better – The Roots – And Who Possibly Help You Get In The Zone Too (Or Get A Kick From!)

As someone with ADHD, it is easy to get distracted, but I think it has dawned on me that certain bands, artists or songs give me an edge.

So I am going to dive right in here then.

Here we go.

A truly great band, to say the least. They have always gripped me. Their lyrics tend to be profound.

I think ‘Undun‘ is particularly deep, philosophical and engaging.

It is a fantastic album but if you are someone who finds listening to individual songs or playlists more enjoyable or useful – I think in the digital age that is arguably more of the done thing – whatever works for you.

‘I Remember’

Sometimes I think it is difficult to explain what is about a certain song that gets me – and this is the case here – but it is has a nice deep vibe to it I think.

The following lyrics certainly grab my attention:-

‘It’s only human to express the way you really feel, but that same humanity is my Achilles’ heel, a leopard can’t change his spots and never will, so I’m forever ill, now I can never never chill, what’s keeping me from breaking out like Benadryl, when my baptism of fire resulted in a kill, sometimes it’s as cut and dry as a business deal.’

I do not necessarily relate to those lyrics (defo not part of them!), nor do I have to, but I really feel them. I like how edgy they are, I don’t know.

Other brilliant songs include:-

Water

‘And if you really ill at makin’ music, the listener feel like he livin’ through it’.

‘Yo, I want you to understand I come from South Philly, and when I walk the street it’s like a pharmacy.’

Sadly a brilliant line that, really real, love it.

‘Now Or Never’

‘Everything’s changin’ around me and I wanna change too, it’s one thing I know, it ain’t cool bein’ no fool, but I’ma get my shit together, it’s now or never.’

How I Got Over

‘Out on the streets, (yeah), where I grew up, first thing they teach you is to not to give a fuck, that type of thinking can’t get you no where, someone has to care.’

The Fire

‘Shine bright as a champion, taking the advantage, never copping out or canceling, burn like a chariot, learn how to how to carry it, maverick, always above average.’

Tunnel Vision

No lyrics of sorts, brilliant song title though I think.

Wrapping it up there.
