| Introduction |
I’ll write something here then, just seeing how this goes.
Seeing how this flows.
Think Queens Of The Stone Age is the selected artist this week.
I’ve drafted this, just going to edit it and get it it now (plus make my transfer/transfers of course).
This song is dedicated to FPL/SKYFF to give assists then take them away (I’ll leave that there). Mesin, whatever they give is what they give, sometimes it doesn’t go for you, sometimes it does (my glass is definitely half full to be fair).
So, from a purely (fantasy) football point of view, DGW22 sees Manchester United and Leeds United play twice.
I’m coming off the back off some really decent GWs (green arrows wise), despite a few moves that could have gone better, and I am feeling (mentally) fresh after a bit of a break amongst the domestic cup matches.
You know it’s funny since I contributed to Fantasy Football Scout (I never mention it), I haven’t been stopped in cafes and pubs by people saying ‘are you the guy who wrote for Fantasy Football Scout about Spain in December’.
Yeah, I’m still dining out on that (not literally).
Nor did anyone say ‘I see you got those Estupiñan points off the bench lad, fantastic differential there’
I didn’t get anyone saying ‘I see you picked Mac Allister earlier on in the season when he scored 3 goals in 2 matches’.
No one said to me Sainsburys ‘Eh lad, I saw that you got 9 Adams points the other GW’.
No one said to me ‘Eh, getting Ødegaard straight after the World Cup is going well’ as I went for a walk in the park.
No one said ‘That Mount double figure haul was amazing eh’.
It’s almost as if there’s people who are not part of this fantasy/real world that sees aproximately 10 million teams in play (I know there’s ghostship teams).
Well, fair enough then.
I do not expect a marching band to play next to me after differentials doing well for me in fantasy football I suppose.
I’m proper chilled here, that walk was fantastic.
Think I’ll be making one transfer in FPL (possibly two, slightly considering doing 2) and I may make multiple ones In SkyFF.
I think there’s gameweeks where it’s effective to go with the crowd and GWs to go against it.
As much as I love being a maverick by getting differentials in I think this is one to go with the crowd (possibly a bit of both actually).
Ok this stream of consciousness is about to get posted in a minute, the stats/observations are sound now I think (maybe I made some up for a laugh, mesin).
Next bit then.
| DGW22 Fixtures |
Who’s playing first, ah yeah, I know.
| 03/02/22 | 20:00 (GMT) | Chelsea Vs Fulham | Both Teams To Score Or Not…I Haven’t Got A Clue Here Mate (Written From A Fantasy Football Point of View)|
Chelsea are boosted by attacking options aplenty, as well as having picked up a fair few clean sheets in recent gameweeks.
Fulham are currently 7th in the Premier League, in February, continue to impress.
Yes they were defeated by Newcastle United – and did not manage to net against Eddie Howe’s side – but not many sides do score against the best defence (objectively speaking) in the Premier League in 2022/23.
What stats can I put in here then, let me see.
Not a stat, but Chelsea actually won a game of footy the other week.
They beat Crystal Palace (1-0).
Suppose I’ll have to look deeper than that though, what stats can I use here then.
This is me playing the part of a casual, so it would seem.
Honestly if you’re reading this when you don’t play FPL then fair play to do you, telling you now Louis Theroux needs to do a documentary on how weird we are all (playing FPL). I mean that in the best possible way! The world needs more ‘weird’ I reckon.
| 04/02/23 | 12:30 (GMT) | Everton Vs Arsenal | Arsenal’s Free Flowin’ Metrix Footy & The Ev’s Money-Dyche (Yes, I know I’m obsessed by Money Heist) |
So Arsenal are playin’ some brilliant stuff aren’t they.
That Ødegaard lad is pullin’ the strings.
Arsenal are top of the league.
Arsenal tend to do well against Everton (top in depth stuff this).
I may be playing the part of a casual here.
Next game then.
So Everton have gotten Dyche in, and as much as his style isn’t brilliant, it’s true that he can get teams overperforming.
I think this squad may be suited to Dyche.
| 04/02/23 | 15:00 (GMT) Aston Villa Vs Leicester City (It Is At Villa Park Isn’t It, Probably)|
Emery’s lads are doing pretty sound.
They are seemingly playing 4-4-2, with Bailey/Watkins up top making runs in behind.
Leicester City have Maddison back, and were victorious in the FA Cup the other day.
It may give them a bit of boost confidence wise though, but Maddison’s return is likely to be more significant from a purely football perspective.
Not that it’ll necessarily make a big impact on this fixture (well it might do), but it’s worth a mention eh.
| 04/02/23 | 15:00 (GMT) | Brentford Vs Southampton |
I’m just stopping here for a minute to have a quick edit.
Brentford are having a really decent season.
Arsenal remain the only side to have taken all 3 points from the Brentford Community Stadium in 2022/23 (10 matches played).
Brentford are the 5th highest scoring team at home in the Premier League this season, with an xG of 15.8 at home (according to FBREF).
Just checked that now, looks on the money (let’s just say it’s sound anyway eh).
But they don’t have a double GW, so what do we care (sorta joking, ish).
But I think it helps to go into each GW well informed, it doesn’t necessarily mean that things pan out exactly how the numbers suggest but obviously it appears that Brentford are likely to score (any Tom, Dick or Harry could score though to be fair).
Anyway, we can keep an eye on their form, as not every GW for the rest of the season is a DGW.
| 04/02/23 | 15:00 (GMT) | Old Trafford | Manchester United Vs Crystal Palace |
Manchester United are looking to continue their strong home form, despite being defeated by Arsenal (3-2) away from home in GW21 (in FPL that is), having avoided defeat at home in the Premier League for the vast majority of the 2022/23 season.
Manchester United under ETH have been more intense and have a clearer way of playing under the former Ajax manager.
It could be argued that they are more free flowing now that Ronaldo is now longer at the club – the presence of Weghorst means less pace in behind but more of a physical presence in the number 9 position.
Having said that, the impressive form of Marcus Rashford & Bruno Fernandes does bolster their chances of winning their next two home matches against Crystal Palace and Leeds United respectively.
Purely from an FPL/SKYFF perspective this may bode well with it being a DGW, but with football being football and given how competitive this Premier League season is there are no guarantees.
| 04/02/23 | 17:30 (GMT) | St.James’ Park | Newcastle United Vs West Ham United |
Newcastle United still boast the best defence in the Premier League in terms of least goals conceded and clean sheets.
| 05/02/23 | 14:00 (GMT) | The City Ground | Nottingham Forest Vs Leeds United |
Forest have improved in terms of underlying numbers in recent GWs.
Generally speaking – they’re tougher to beat at the City Ground – at least going off recent results in the Premier League that is.
But every match is different.
Leeds United do know how to dig in away from home.
They carry somewhat of a threat on the break too.
It’s away from home where they seemingly have more problems (this is looking at things mainly from an overview perspective).
Leeds do have plenty of attacking options though, and do get numbers forward.
Leeds have an xG of 25.8 (according to FBREF), that’s one of the better xGs in the league outside of the top 4, whilst only 5 sides that are currently outside of the top 4 have scored more goals than Marsch’s side on the road (11) in 2022/23 – or something like that anyway!
| 05/02/23 | 16:30 (GMT) | The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium | Spurs Vs Manchester City |
Spurs come off the back of back to back wins.
| 08/02/23 | 20:00 (GMT) | Old Trafford | Manchester United Vs Leeds United |
Manchester United have won their previous 5 matches at home in the Premier League (written on 02/02/23, before Manchester United play Crystal Palace at home on 04/02/23).
| Team(s) |

Looks like I’m just making 1 transfer, it buys thinking time too moving forward (information, fixtures wise).
| Overview (Ish) |
● DGW22 sees Manchester United play twice (against Crystal Palace & against Leeds United)
● DGW23 sees Arsenal play twice (both home matches against Brentford and against Manchester City), plus Manchester City play twice too
● GW24, GW25, GW26 & GW27 currently is set to be a regular GW (as things stand & from what I can gather)
○ Main focus is on DGW players/teams
● Possibly a few teams not playing in GW25 (food for thought)
