Argentina finally got over the line in a final, by winning the Copa America against rivals Brazil last summer.
The likes of Heinze, Mascherano & Higuain, who experienced nearly moments, are no longer involved (retired from international football, having experienced brilliant careers at club level)
I just think this can be massive for a team, after near moments, to know that feeling (again) of being a side that finishes as winners or seeing their name as number 1 in some sort of way.
Plus, from a purely football point of view, this side seemingly has more balance, clarity and intensity about it now.
It’s recent success has been built on Emi Martinez being established as number 1, whilst also having a more settled defence, a midfield that gets around the pitch more readily & Messi being utilised better by effectively playing as a number 10.
Messi finally has won a major international trophy for Argentina, and that will surely feel like a big relief in some respects, and can now enjoy a fruitful partnership with Lautro Martinez.
A semi-final against Brazil is entirely possible. Get through that, and anything is possible.

Definitely not a starter for Argentina in this tournament, if Argentina were to be knocked out by Netherlands on 09/12/22.
Did not feature against Croatia (Argentina seemingly have a better attack collectively without the Inter striker in the side from the start,coupled with bus lack of form, and Argentina are more fluid with Messi & Martinez linking up together)

The Inter Milan striker very much appears to be Argentina’s go to player for the number 9 role.
Martinez is very technically gifted, and is very capable of scoring a couple of goals out of almost no where, and is likely to be well backed up by Messi and co to create chances for him.
Martinez recently scored a brace for Inter in Seria A, and I think I am right in saying that he is their top goalscorer in this season.
