Introduction
Group D sees…hang on…who’s in it (it’s November, there was Premier League matches on literally about 90 hours ago lad).
It’s France, Denmark (I think France & Denmark have to be in the same tournament and same group as each other every 4 or 6 years or something)… * looks at magazine * Australia & Tunisia.
France 🇨🇵
● World Cup winners in 1998 & 2018 (whenever a year ends in 8 basically, yes that is a tongue in cheek comment)
Language spoken – French (in case you didn’t know, mesin lad)
Can France Be The First The World Cup Winners To Win Back To Back World Cups Since Brazil Did Or Whoever It Was (It’s Been Absolutely Ages, Like Properly Ages Mate)
3 of the previous 5 World Cup winners have exited the tournament as holders in recent football history (2002, & 2014 & 2018), so in that context, winning the World Cup back to back is an extremely difficult thing to do (also, incidently, the World Cup has only been won twice by a European side outside of Europe).
But with the modern ways of how well looked after footballers are, and the sheer talent in the squad (Benzema led), Deschamp’s France are very much amongst the favourites in 2022.
Their squad is lead by the afforementioned experienced Benzema, whilst also boosting some of Europe’s young top talents (Saliba, Konate and Camavinga in particular) in their 26 man squad, as well as having numerous options in the forward areas.
Benzema has since been ruled out of the tournament through injury. [ Updated on 24/11/22 at 00:38. ]

Lloris
Varane
Rabiot
Griezmann
Possible Starter
Giroud
Like a fine wine, Giroud is still going strong, and remains one of France’s all time top scorers.
4 goals scored in 6 appearances at the 2022 World Cup, showed fantastic hold up play against Poland (3-1), and has now became France’s all time top scorer.
[ Added to on 14/12/22 at 23:42. ]
● Giroud scores 2 (levels Henry’s goal scoring record for France) [ Updated on 23/11/22 at 22:27 ]
Mbappe (Key Player/Starter)
● Scored in the Nations League final victory against Spain & in the World Cup final in 2018
● France’s main threat
● 33 goals scored in 65 appearances for France [ Updated on 14/12/22 at 23:4. ]
● May well get plenty of joy against Australia (and against other teams too, especially as Benzema is out through injury, although Giroud could feature centrally/with Mbappe)
● Mbappe got a goal & an assist in France’s 4-1 win against Australia, scored a brace against Denmark (2-1) & was partly rested against Tunisia – scored another brace against Poland (3-1) [ Updated on 05/12/22 at 14:53. ]

Denmark 🇩🇰 [ Eliminated ]
● 6th World Cup qualification (2022, 2018, 2010, 2002, 1998 & 1986)
● Euro 2020 (was actually played in 2021, strange times eh) semi-finalists
Denmark play very technical, fast and intricate football. Led by Eriksen, and to just be able to write that short sentence is pleasure and quite something in of its self. Denmark also have pace in wide areas, normally get plenty of players ahead of the ball, and were one of the highest scoring sides at Euro 2020.
Fixtures
Vs Tunisia (Al Rayyan, 22/11/22, 13:00 GMT)
Vs France (Doha, 26/11/22, 16:00 GMT)
Vs Australia (Al Wakrah, 30/11/22, 15:00 GMT)
Key Players (Or Starters)
Schmeichel
Now Nice’s number 1, playing his football in Ligue 1, is also Denmark’s first choice (and leader).
Maehle
Able to play as a right or left full back (or wing back), is extremely attacking, and was a shining light at Euro 2020.
Hojberg
Very much box to box, gets around the pitch really well (arguably an unsung hero), and is capable of getting the odd goal every now & then.
Eriksen
His role has changed in recent times for his new club Manchester United, but the former Brentford & Spurs midfield offers plenty of technical attributes in Denmark’s midfield, as well as offering a threat from set-pieces.
Possible Starter
That Dolberg lad (he’s pretty decent on EFootball, well when I used to play it, I prefer walks around nature these days mate)
Tunisia 🇹🇳 [ Eliminated ]
● One of multiple North African teams at the 2022 World Cup
● Entering their 6th World Cup
● Tunisia has a population of aproximately 12 million people
● Won 5 of their 8 qualifying matches (avoided defeat in 7 of said 8 qualifying matches, 5 wins & 2 draws)
● 12 goals scored (2 conceded, a goal difference of +10) in qualifying
● Looking to reach the last 16 (or beyond) for the first time in their history (conditions could help them)
Fixtures

Key Players (Or Starters)
Talbi
Khazri (possible starter, did not start in Tunisia’s 0-0 draw against Denmark)
● Possibly starting through the middle/as a false 9 of sorts (or a midfielder/wide player playing as a 9)
Msakni
Australia 🇦🇺 [ Eliminated ]
● World Cup regulars (since 2006)
● Entering a 5th consecutive World Cup tournament (6th overall)
● Progressed to the last 16 on one occasion (5 attempts)
