| Introduction |
I am writing the Introduction now, more than half way through writing this post (as you do, you know, I’m about organised chaos now).
This is nearly done now.
I’m getting it out before the Champions League matches start on Tuesday (as in today, 25/10/22, to try to be all precise).
Pretty sure the numbers are on the money now, if not, let’s just say that they are (maybe I made some up for a laugh mesin, this is a rough ‘review’ overall).
| Results |
| 24/10/22 | 20:00 (GMT) | The London Stadium | West Ham United 2-0 Bournemouth |
| West Ham Go 10th |
| Outcome/Actual Numbers |
● West Ham United have now won 3 of their previous 5 league matches
● Bournemouth lose back to back league matches
● Bournemouth have now conceded the most amount of goals in the Premier League in 2022/23 (25 goals conceded in 12 matches)
● Bournemouth have currently conceded the highest amount of goals away from home in the Premier League (20 conceded away from home in the league this season, 3 times more than what they have conceded at home)
| Eye Test (Mainly) |
West Ham looked rather compact to me, I think Kehrer being available again may be a boost for Moyes’ side, I don’t think Bournemouth really layed a glove on them (just 3 shots on target, but I’m glad Solanke had 2 of those to get me the shots tier in Sky Sports Fantasy Football).
It is West Ham’s first clean sheet in the league for a little while, but I was impressed by how West Ham played in some aspects.
Benrahma had numerous goal attempts, he had some nice touches and slotted the penalty to seal the win.
Bowen was a bit quiet, but he was making several runs into central areas, and played some nice passes.
| A Few Other Notes (Possibly Data Based) |
● Neto & Solanke go off injured
● Bournemouth have conceded a considerable amount of goals when Travers plays and when Neto doesn’t (I don’t have the exact numbers on me, but it is quite literally true mate)
| 23/10/22 | 16:30 (GMT) | The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium | Spurs 1–2 Newcastle United |
| Newcastle United Win At Spurs |
| 23/10/22 | 14:00 (GMT) | Molineux | Wolves 0-4 Leicester City |
| Leicester Get Their First Away Win (In The League) In 2022/23 |
● Wolves are beaten at home for a second time in the Premier League in 2022/23
| 23/10/22 | 14:00 (GMT) | Craven Cottage (It Was At Elland Road Wasn’t It, I Knew That, I’ll Sort That Now) Elland Road | Leeds United 2-3 Fulham |
| 23/10/22 | 14:00 (GMT) | St.Marys | Southampton 1-1 Arsenal |
| Southampton Take A Point & Arsenal Draw For The First Time In The Premier League in 2022/23 |
Southampton pick up back to back positive results (4 points from a possible 6), whilst also once again make it tricky for one of the top sides in the league.
| Fulham Score 3 or More Again & Leeds Remain Winless Since GW3 |
● Fulham move upto 7th, win back league matches & remain the (now joint) 5th highest scoring team (22 goals scored) in the Premier League in 2022/23
| 23/10/22 | 14:00 (GMT) | Villa Park | Aston Villa 4-0 Brentford |
| Villa ‘Golea’ (That Means Batter, In Spanish, Basically) Brentford (Just Though I’d Throw Some Spanish In For Laugh, Soz) |
Villa score 4 or more in a Premier League match for the first time since…I don’t know…it’s been ages hasn’t it (quite possibly for the first time this calender year, I’ll have a look now, gonna leave the zone for a minute)
Here then.
● Aston Villa score 4 goals or more in a Premier League match for the first time since beating Southampton (4-0) in March 2022 (this year that to clarify, I did write ‘quite possibly’, know how to word things me mate)
| 22/10/22 | 17:30 (GMT) | Stamford Bridge | Chelsea 1–1 Manchester United |
| A Score Draw |
● Chelsea remain unbeaten since GW8
| A Few Side Notes |
Potter makes a substitute by bringing on Croatia international Kovacic for Cucurella, to help reduce United’s threat.
Manchester United played well and definitely deserved something from the match.
Manchester United claim a point with a late Casimero goal.
| 22/10/22 | 15:00 (GMT) | The Etihad | Manchester City 3–1 Brighton |
| Haul-Land At It Again (At Home) |
Manchester City have now scored 27 goals at home in the Premier League in 2022/23.
● Manchester City continue a run of having scored score 3 or more in every home match in the Premier League in 2022/23
● Haaland scores his 16th & 17th league goal in 2022/23
● De Bruyne scores in the league for the first time since GW2 (11th goal involvement this season, FPL assists may be included)
| 22/10/22 | 15:00 (GMT) | Goodison Park | Everton 3-0 Crystal Palace |
| Everton Beat Palace By 3 |
Everton pick up a positive win, their 3rd in the Premier League in 2022/23, and get their first clean sheet in the league since GW8.
● Everton score 3 goals or more in a Premier League for the first time this season
● Everton score 3 goals or more in a Premier League match for the first time since beating the same opposition – Crystal Palace (3-2) – on May 19th *** this calender year ***

● Crystal Palace concede 3 or more in a Premier League match for the 2nd time in 2022/23
● Crystal Palace concede their 6th, 7th & 8th (in the league) goals *** away from home this season *** (5 league matches played)
| 22/10/22 | 12:30 (GMT) | The City Ground | Nottingham Forest 1-0 Liverpool |
| Forest Stun Liverpool |
● Nottingham Forest win their second league match of the season
● Nottingham Forest pick up a second league clean sheet *** at home *** of the season
● Liverpool fail to score in a league match for the first time since GW6 Vs Everton – (0-0)
● Salah had 4 goal attempts (2 on target)
| A Few Side Notes |
To be honest, rightly or wrongly, I partly got Salah in because of eo (effective ownership).
But.
Also, because of the fixtures, he is on a run of facing sides have are in the bottom half of the table (mostly).
He has been especially effective in scoring against newly promoted sides/bottom half teams in recent seasons (he can absolutely do it against the top teams too, his record against sides like Manchester City, Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United is overall really good).
I suppose this is me being very stream of consciousness.
I’m wondering what’s going on.
It’s odd to say that a side that has the joint second worst defence (goals conceded) *** this was true at the time of writing (on 22/10/22) has kept the joint 4th highest scoring team at bay.
Liverpool did force Henderson into decent saves, and racked up attempts at goal.
And yet lacked pace and urgency (admittedly it is more difficult breaking down a low block, but still).
Football eh.
If I’m being honest I didn’t quite massively fancy him (Salah) but I knew he could easily haul today too.
Funnily enough, I don’t necessarily think it is just down to what position that he is playing.
There is something in it how well he’s done as a 9 (or playing centrally) but this is a different set up (without Mané).
I think combinations are important in football, in terms of how players link up.
I think one or two players being in or out of the team can seemingly make a big difference in how players perform and ultimately deliver output wise.
But, it’s football, it’s strange that he’s still has only scored 3 league goals.
And has yet scored against City (that goal was amazing, the skill and pace he showed for it is massively encouraging).
