‘Capital’ by Amyl & The Sniffers Stream of Conciousness – I’ll Keep Doing These – Something To Do Isn’t It

Tune.

So many top lyrics in this tune.

What a band.

Amazing name too.

For me it’s a big finger up to snobby Tories who look down on those with addictions. Anyone can have an addiction. Poor or rich or inbetween. So they can do one. Snobs.

In terms of the song. As always you can interpret songs in different ways. Some songs are more clear cut. That’s why I like to watch interviews with artists or reading articles or things like that. Sometimes you get bits from that.

When you talk about strong women. My word Amy Taylor is that. She’s absolutely brilliant. As is the band.

So the lyrics….some are powerphrased…maybe…whatever.

The following stand out for me:-

“Existing for the sake of existing, meaning disappears.”

“Meanwhile I’ve just learning basic politics.”

“Meanwhile they sexualise my body and get mad when I exploit it.”

“Australia is burning but I’m not learning how to be more conscious.”

“And I wonder why I get dopamine realised when I give.”

“Disdain & excitement realised dually.”

I find those lyrics particularly interesting as I find that I get a good feeling when I give. I sometimes like to quote one line from a song in isolation. I mean I read into the disdain bit a few things. Also, some lyrics are difficult to completely hear properly I think but I generally have a good ear for lyrics.

Difficult to explain. I mean that’s another thing. Apparently we can only express 80 per cent of what we feel and put into words or write them down. I watched something the other day about how there’s people who basically can’t do it. How to ADD I think the account is. Something like that.

The song also refers to capitalism I think. And it’s utter greed. I love bands like Amyl & The Sniffers because they’re so real. Tell the big companies to do one & support independent/local companies/organisations/coffeeshops etc. Is what I say. That’s what I do. It’s up to you though obviously.
