Premier League [ 2021/22 ] DGW28 Stream of Conciousness (Apparently It’s A DGW…Another GW…They Are Every 5 Minutes These Days) [ A Throw Back To Teletext. ] { May Be Edited Slightly. ]

| Introduction |

This might be a bit quick fire.

Flippin’ eck.

Who am I going to pick this week.

Let’s see eh.

Might have to some tunes on in a bit.

What genre will this DGW be (80s pop).

We’ll have to see.

More lyrics than xG.

Quite possibly (?).

“Sweet dreams are made are this, who am I to disagree.”

Sweet Dreams‘ (the synth in that tune is a beast) by Eurythmics/Annie Lennox.

[ Putting it out now because I don’t know what else to write, I mainly do this for the puns and lyrics really, mesin. ]

Here is what I usually say.

Hope it reads well and the notes, (aproximate) numbers are interesting/useful.

| Fixtures |

| 05/02/22 | 12:30 (UK) | The King Power Stadium | Leicester City Vs Leeds United |

| Vardy Returns & Leeds Conceding At The Back |

• Leicester City continue to be one of the highest scoring teams outside of the top 4, come off the back off a couple decent wins and do tend to be a tough opponent at the King Power more often than not

• Leeds have Marsch at the helm, faces a tough task in managing in the Premier League for the first time, with players that have conceded more than other team in recent GWS (may have Phillips in contention though)

| 05/02/22 | 15:00 (UK) | Villa Park | Aston Villa Vs Southampton |

| The Danny Ings Derby |

• Villa underlying numbers wise in attack are not particularly impressive but I think every game is different and Southampton do concede chances (Villa have players who can make the difference, and full backs getting in space, outwide to help their attackers)

| 05/02/22 | 15:00 (UK) | Turf Moor | Burnley Vs Chelsea |

| What Do I Write Here (I Don’t Know) |

| 05/02/22 | 15:00 (UK) | St.James’ Park | Newcastle United Vs Brighton |

| Newcastle United Improved Form & Brighton’s Form Away From Home |

• Newcastle are unbeaten at home in the league for a little while now, been tougher to beat and drew 1-1 with Brighton in the reverse fixture

• Brighton have only lost 1 or 2 league matches away from home in 2021/22 (might have to check, hang on, pretty sure that is right though)

| 05/02/22 | 15:00 (UK) | Carrow Road |Norwich City Vs Brentford |

| Norwich City / Brentford Need A Win…Something Has To Give (?) |

| 05/02/22 | 15:00 (UK) | Molineux | Wolves Vs Crystal Palace |

| Wolves Back At Molineux (Returning Forwards) & Palace’s Away Form (?)|

• Crystal Palace have conceded in the vast majority of their away league matches in 2021/22

| 05/02/22 | 17:30 (UK) | Anfield | Liverpool Vs West Ham United |

| League Cup Winners Liverpool Vs West Ham United |

| 06/02/22 | 14:00 (UK) | Vicarage Road | Watford Vs Arsenal |

| Watford’s Problems Conceding At Home & Arsenal’s Decent Form (Especially Against The Bottom 10)|

• Not many teams have conceded more at home than Watford in the league in 2021/22 (have to check my tables, they are like top 3 for most conceded, too many stats in my head!)

• Arsenal have won well against bottom 10 sides, got a big win in their previous league match against Wolves 2-1)

| 06/02/22 | 16:30 (UK) | Old Trafford | Manchester City Vs Manchester United |

| City Feeling The Heat (?) & United’s Quietly Impressive Away Form |

| 07/02/22 | 20:00 (UK) | The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium | Spurs Vs Everton |

| Spurs To Get Free Scoring Again (?) & Everton’s Away Day Blues |

| 10/02/22 | 19:30 (UK) | Carrow Road | Norwich City Vs Chelsea |

| Norwich Staying In Games & Chelsea’s Returning Defenders |

| 10/02/22 | 19:30 (UK) | St.Marys Stadium | Southampton Vs Newcastle United |

| The Alan Shearer Derby (Played For Both Clubs) |

| 10/02/22 | 19:30 (UK) | Molineux | Wolves Vs Watford |

| Wolves’ Binary Code Scores (?) & Watford’s Recent Resilience Away From Home |

| 10/02/22 | 19:45 (UK) Elland Road | Leeds United Vs Aston Villa |

| (The James Milner Derby) Leeds & Villa To Have Another Belter (?) |

| Teams To Do Well (?) |

Leicester City (at home against a Leeds United side, albeit with a new manager, that has conceded no fewer than 14 goals in their previous 3 league matches)

Aston Villa (yes and no, 2 games though, DGW and all that jazz)

Chelsea (facing two sides in the bottom 3, albeit away from home, no gimmes by any means but they may well have too much for Burnley & Norwich City respectively)

Liverpool (League Cup in the bag, the title race is on and Klopp’s side continue to have attacking threats from so many different areas)

Spurs (Spurs have shown they can put teams to the sword on occasion with the quality they have in attack and/or get big away wins, but need to win at home again and have a chance to do so against an Everton side that have not * won away from home * in the league since the first few GWs of the season).

XI: Sá; Trent, Digne, James; Salah, Coutinho, Maddison, Ramsey, Raphinha; Adams & Vardy. Subs: Foster, Samir, Jonny, Sargent.

| Heavy Hitters |

Salah (top scorer in the league, top scorer at home in the league or one of them anyway, and likes playing West Ham and most teams in fairness)

Mané

(3 goals in his previous 3 league matches)

Vardy (returned against Burnley, in more ways than one, and is now on double figures for goals scored in the league this season)

Trent

Highest returning defender in the league this season (clean sheets, assists & goals)

Van Dijk

Robertson

Continues to shine (one of the highest assisters), right up there for defenders this season, got a double figure return in his previous league match (may get joy with Coufal possibly being out)

| Middleweights (Particularly Featuring Tricky Number 10s)|

Maddison, Raphinha, Coutinho (different routes to points, set pieces, and with creativity and a threat from distance)

Rudiger

Adams (7 league goals, getting in the right areas, likes a tap in and can cut in and runs in behind well)

Cash

Coady/Kilman/Saiss (The Moroccan international might even be on some free kicks, all somewhat of a threat going forward for set pieces)

Mount/Ziyech/Pulisic/Havertz (not a clue mate, so many options they have, maybe take a punt one of them…Ziyech has a bit of magic from wide areas and distance creativity wise too…Mount gets in the area well)

| Possible Differentials (Ish)|

James

Back and available, played some minutes in the League Cup final, and has the ability to get goals/assists with his technical right foot (facing sides in Burnley and Norwich that are not renowned for scoring goals)

Ramsay

Cheap as chips, makes runs from deep and has 2 matches against sides that have kept minimal clean sheets in recent GWs.
