Teams With 2 Matches In DGW22 (As Things Stand)
DGW22 fixtures are officially out, so here is a quick fire article, but remember things can change but it is worth a look at to see how things are with what we know now (this article may also be of interest from a general point of view and/or from other fantasy football games like Draft o Sky FF).
It is isn’t as underlying number esque as maybe it is might be in other articles but there are bits in here to soak up perhaps.
I went back to edit it a bit and it’s doing my head in now (after a while, I find it easier to write than edit, was enjoyable to write for the most part) so I’ll put it out in a minute.
Think it’s alright anyway!

Spurs
Vs Arsenal (H) & Leicester City (A)
• Faces Arsenal and Leicester City sides that have defensive players injuried/unavailable – a plus.
• Unbeaten in the league under Conte – a plus.
• Only lost * 2 * home games in the league at home, set to face an Arsenal side at home (Arsenal have been beaten in most matches against the top 6) and face a Leicester City away with injuries/players unavailable.
• Mixed away record in the league in 2021/22. – a slight negative.
• Have cup matches coming up (a slight negative).
• Have had a pretty decent amount of shots on target/high chances in recent league matches (a plus).
Lloris
• First choice, security of starts and a way of buying in to Spurs’ defence.
Dier/Sánchez
• Cheap (around 4.6 or cheaper, pretty much less than 5 mil anyway and can be enablers too), first choice centre backs with a threat from set pieces.
Son (is seemingly injured, updated on 07/01/22 at 15:05) and/or Kane (depending on your slots or fantasy football funds) |
• Only 3 players have scored more league goals than Son (in double figures for goal involvements) in 2021/22 (cheaper than Kane, possibly of an extra point or two for goals/clean sheet point for midfielders), a tricky threat and has pace in behind (and a shot from distance).
• Kane has scored in 3 of his previous 4 league matches, on penalties (some free kicks) and is quite lowly owned (getting into decent positions and likes playing Arsenal and Leicester City for what it’s worth).
Manchester United
Vs Aston Villa (A) & Brentford (A)
• Unbeaten in all but 1 league match since Ragnick became manager – a plus.
• Mostly unbeaten away from home in the league in 2021/22.
• Scored in most league matches since November (I think I am right in saying, might have a look in a bit, something like that anyway).
• Facing 2 bottom half teams with injuries/suspensions (as thing stand) & mostly play bottom half teams in their next half a dozen matches or so (think that’s right, pretty sure it is!).
• Aston Villa & Brentford have been tough away matches for teams since Gerrard took over – a slight negative.
• Aston Villa and Brentford have conceded in most home matches in recent months.
• Only 3 players have scored more league goals than Ronaldo.
de Gea (saves loads), Jones (maybe), Verane (is much needed in that defence), Sancho (this 4-2-2-2 may suit him, he has reasonable minutes to his name, and he has it in him to produce something different or a bit of spark when in top form, although the formation might change a bit * possibly * , but his skill and pace is handy in away matches in particular, regardless of the formation) & Ronaldo (he scores well against bottom half teams, their top scorer and he is their most clinical scorer)
Brighton
Vs Crystal Palace (H) & Chelsea (H)
• Brighton are unbeaten in recent league matches, are quitely in decent form and are set to have two matches in a DGW.
• Brighton have most of the possession in most matches they play in (going off this season at least).
• Brighton have only lost 4 league matches this season, have been unbeaten against the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Leicester City.
Sánchez (Brighton’s first choice goalkeeper and a Spanish international, represents one of the top 5 teams in the league in terms of least goals conceded this season & is nicely priced as a budget ‘keeper).
Lamptey (reasonably priced, part of a well organised Brighton set up and gets in to advanced positions as a right full back/wing back looking to get shots off or provide pull backs).
Veltman (the former Ajax defender is cheap, can play multiple positions and can be an enabler)
Cucurella (the hipster choice as a player who looks to be getting decent minutes, gets forward a fair bit and has a nice cross on him).
Dunk (arguably Brighton’s best out and out defender, cheap and has a goal threat through set pieces but currently injued/unavailable/a doubt).
Mac Allister (the player from Argentina looks like a technically gifted player, a cheap & possible differential and comes off the back off banging in a brace against Everton).
Trossard (Belgium international, a player who is really versatile, pops up in different areas in the final third, is pretty up there for most shots in the league overall this season and is argubly Brighton’s best, most flexible and most talented attacker).
Maupay (despite much criticism, the former Brentford striker has 7 league goals to his name this campaign and can be a reference point for Brighton when selected/unless Brighton want to go with a bit of a false 9 approach).
Watford
Vs Newcastle United (A) & Burnley (A)
• Watford have scored in most of their league matches since Ranieri became manager, are one of the highest scoring teams away from home in the league relatively speaking and are set to face two sides (Newcastle have conceded aproximately 22 goals in league matches at home this season and Burnley isn’t too bad but have conceded that you can count on one hand how many clean sheets they have had between them (or it’s half a dozen or something) in the league this season (I think so anyway)
(No clean sheet in the league all season but Backman/Foster if you really need a cheap ‘keeper and enabler, and after save points).
Dennis (providing that he is selected, given the AFCON talks, but as far as I know he is officially available for selection) and/or King (Dennis is right up there for goals and assists in the league in 2021/22, appears to be more of the 9 out of the two and is having a really impressive debut season in the Premier League). { They are both a threat, fresh having not played much recently because of postponements, link up well and get in to decent positions – a significant amount of Watford’s recent goals have been assisted or scored through Dennis and King).
Chelsea
Leicester City
Brentford
Burnley
• Chelsea are set to play Manchester City & Brighton away (not easy), Leicester City are set to face Burnley away and Spurs at home (not particularly easy with Leicester’s problems with injuries, conceding chances and goals – no Vardy, Daka or Iheanacho as things stand – but have options in attack and still can score goals on their day), Brentford have tough matches against Liverpool and Manchester United, and Burnley (unbeaten in most of their home matches in the league and may be fresh from postponements) have two matches at home against sides that have only won a few away matches this season – they haven’t won a great amount away anyway.
Schmeichel (cheap ish ‘keeper with a DGW, plays sides that have not scored a huge amount of goals, and with possible save points), Mount, Maddison (in top form), Lookman, Tielemans, Perez (maybe) Tony, Pope (if fit), Lowton, Tarkowski, Lennon (maybe at a push!) O’Neil & Wood (likes a goal at home, normally gets around 10 to 12 or 13 league goals a season and has the attributes and strength to cause Leicester City and Watford problems).
A bit differential ish those lot.
