I started writing this whilst GW19 was still in play, and GW20 (be weary of the possibility of some players being rested or rotated) starts tomorrow (28/12/11), but I’ll see how this (quick fire sort of preview) goes anyway (a bit thrown together!).
Hopefully it reads well, the numbers are interesting (some rough ones in there perhaps and a bit less underlying numbers in this one, but pointers and rough guides to form) and there are bits to take from it.
Good luck & enjoy.
| GW20 Matches (As Things Stand, Written on 27/12/21) |
| 28/12/21 | 15:00 (UK) | Selhurst Park | Crystal Palace Vs Norwich City |
• Crystal Palace are unbeaten in all but 1 of their Premier League home matches in 2021/22.
| 28/12/21 | 15:00 (UK) | St.Marys | Southampton Vs Spurs |
• Southampton are unbeaten in all but 1 of their Premier League home matches in 2021/22
• Spurs won well there in 2020/21, for what it is worth, and Son/Kane scored/assisted a fair few there!
| 28/12/21 | 15:00 (UK) | Vicarage Road | Watford Vs West Ham United |
• Watford have conceded in every single Premier League match in 2021/22.
| 28/12/21 | 20:00 (UK) | The King Power Stadium | Leicester City Vs Liverpool |
• No team has scored more goals away from home in the Premier League than Liverpool (28) in 2021/22 and Liverpool have scored 2 or more goals away at The King Power on several occasions in recent seasons.
| 29/12/21 | 19:45 (UK) | Stamford Bridge | Chelsea Vs Brighton |
• Chelsea have key players fit again and have won most of their home matches in all competitions (despite a few dropped points recently) and Brighton are mostly unbeaten away from home in the Premier League in 2021/22.
| 29/12/21 | 20:15 (UK) | The Brentford Community Stadium | Brentford Vs Manchester City |
• Manchester City have won 9 consecutive Premier League matches.
• Only 3 teams have scored 2 goals or more away from home against Brentford in the Premier League (Norwich City, Leicester City & Liverpool, turns out it was 3).
• Manchester City are unbeaten away from home in the Premier League since GW1.
| 30/12/21 | 19:30 (UK) | Goodison Park | Everton Vs Newcastle United
• Everton are unbeaten in 2 of their previous 3 Premier League matches.
• Newcastle got a respectful draw at home against Manchester United and can get at Everton’s defence.
| 30/12/21 | 20:00 (UK) | Old Trafford | Manchester United Vs Burnley |
• Manchester United won their previous 2 Premier League matches (0-1 & 1-0) prior to drawing at Newcastle United (1-1).
| Teams To Do Well (?) |
| Crystal Palace |
| Spurs |
| Liverpool |
| Chelsea (Yes And No) |
| Manchester City |
| Everton (Yes And No) |
| Manchester United |

| Most Threating Players From Back To Front (?) |
| Trent |
• No defender has more clean sheets, assists and goals combined than Trent this season.
• One of the most creative players (not just defenders) in the league in 2021/22.
• Set piece taker (he has found memories of playing away at Leicester City).
| Cancelo |
• 2nd for clean sheets, assists and goals combined in the Premier League this season.
• 7 assists in the Premier League in 2021/22.
• Another assist against Leicester City (6-3) in GW19.
• Excellent underlying numbers.
| James |
• Highest goal scoring defender in the Premier League in 2021/22.
• Despite a couple of own goals and a red this season, he has more clean sheets, assists and goals combined than most defenders this season (set to play a Brighton team that do not score a lot of goals, although Potter’s side are no mugs either and rightly have their pludits).
| Alonso |
• Playing wing back, has 23 Premier League goals to his name since playing in the league, and is on set pieces (decent home fixture).
| Salah |
• Fresh after not being involved in GW19.
• No player has had more shots in the Premier League in 2021/22 than the Egyptian King.
• No player has scored more goals away (9) from home than Salah in the Premier League in 2021/22.
• Faces a Leicester City side that played yesterday in a tiresome 6-3 defeat away against Manchester City.
• Leicester City have numerous injuries/players unavailable.
• Leicester City have conceded 20 goals in their previous 7 Premier League matches.
| Son |
• Only 3 players have scored more goals than Son in the Premier League in 2021/22.
• Playing in a front 2 (or possibly front 3), a set piece taker and quite possibly Spurs’ best performer (scored/assisted 11 goals, may include unofficial assists) in the Premier League in 2021/22.
• Has the ability to beat players (‘win’ free kicks or possibly penalties), shoots really well from distance and runs in behind.
| Sterling |
• Brace in GW19, scored/assisted in all but 1 match in about half a dozen GWs (I think I am right in saying), may be on pens (City appear to be rotating set piece takers) and is looking sharp.
| Lukaku |
• Not had many starts recently but scored and assisted (FPL) in GW19, 3rd top scorer of all players still playing in the league (recent Premier League history), may be an option this week or some point soon.
| De Bruyne |
• 3 consecutive starts, 3 goals in his previous 3 league matches (albeit at home) and is argubly Manchester’s Citys best player when on form (currently quietly in form).
| Ronaldo |
• 7 Premier League goals, high for shots on target and set to face a Burnley side that concedes a fair few away from home and have not played a match recently (despite actually having been tougher to beat in recent months).
| Middleweight Options (Mid Priced Ish In FPL/Fantasy Football) |
| Antonio |
• Scored in GW19, which may well lift his confidence and feel like a weight off his shoulders, and faces a Watford side that has conceded in every away match in the Premier League in 2021/22.
| Jota |
• Only Salah has more league goals than the Portuguese in 2021/22, has scored 5 goals (I think so anyway, something like that!) away from home in the Premier League this season, and is set to face a aforementioned Leicester City side that has conceded numerous goals in recent GWs (and overall, in the bottom 6 for most goals conceded in the league in 2021/22).
| Dennis (And Or King) |
• Both Dennis (very decent option now but has AFCON coming up in January as things stand) and King link up well (rotate central role from game to game but almost play as a 2 to some extent) – Dennis is in double figures for goals and assists this season and King has scored well too.
| Bernardo Silva |
• 5 goals away from home in the league in 2021/22, Manchester City’s joint top scorer with Sterling, and is an influential part of Guardiola’s side.
| Gray |
• Fast, skillful and direct (fairly decent goal involvement in league matches this season), puts teams on the back foot and has decent fixtures coming up (pandemic permitting).
| A Bit Between Middleweight & Differential |
Bowen (double figures in all comps this season, a direct and pacey threat and is set to face a side has had problems at left back (or at wing back) and that has condeded in every league match this season.
| Possible Differentials |
| Doucouré |
Makes runs from deep, quietly has a few goals and assists in him, and has decent fixtures.
| Calvert-Lewin |
Fit and available (match fitness permitting), Everton’s top scorer in 2020/21 and focus point (massive boost to Everton and with pretty decent fixtures)
| Edouard |
If you fancy a bit of a punt, the former Celtic striker is likely to feature with the suspension of Zaha, he hasn’t got off to a classic start but he is capable of causing a Norwich City without their first choice ‘keeper available (Krul is a doubt) and a Norwich City that has conceded goals in wide areas and from crosses/pull backs.
