Obviously now I’ve writen that and about to post it, someone will score a free kick and that’s footy really.
Think it is weird how few direct free kicks are being scored though.
They are difficult to do so but there are players with great technique.
These things go in trends though I suppose.
Stats are right until they are not.
It is appealing to have quality set piece takers in your team, and it isn’t a ‘Proper Football Man’ thing to say, as approximately a third of goals in football are scored through set pieces.
Probably.
Something like that anyway.
What a sight or sound it is though.
When a direct free kick is scored.
The stats don’t tell us everything.
But when something special happens in a game, ideally for our team, we admire the beauty of it (providing it is not against our team) and don’t necessarily think of the numbers.
