–Ción words pretty much always (or the vast majority of the time at least) become -tion words (por ejemplo/e.g imformación/imformation).

Words/nouns that end in a are generally feminine (la mesa, la camiseta, the t shirt, the table, la pierna, the leg etc.)

There are some nice go to template phrases to use, partly to buy you thinking time when in conversation, (a ver, let me think, a mi modo de ver, the way I see it, en mi opinion, in my opinion, dicho eso, having said that).

Some words appear to feminine but are masculine (el problema, problem).
