Why ‘IDLES’ Are A Breath of Fresh Air

At a time where there is much obsession about ‘being right’, and not enough emphasis on emotional inteligence (although it does appear to be improving), ‘IDLES’ are a band that I have really taken a liking to.

I sort of have to be in the right mood, or in a bit of a mood, to listen to them.

Like a lot of music, different songs/artists/bands/groups to different moods.

I feel sometimes in modern day society we need to be more open, creative, appreciate things more, enjoy things more, be a bit more a care free, have more fun, have more experiences, have better friendships/relationships, embrace things more be more authentic etc.

There is so much fixation on being perfect (and in some ways rightly so, it is absolutely something to strive towards, although it can weirdly hold us back sometimes, so yeah, whatever, I don’t know really and it is ok to be conflicted sometimes), and with such mixed political views, opinions on sport and a need to out do each other, I think ‘IDLES’ show how more unity is needed and they really tackle these issues of toxic masculinity, racism and zenophobia.

Everyone has an opinion, and is right to, and emotions come out at times but I think we should respect people’s views but I think so much pettiness is tearing apart parts of society.

Can we have better discussions?

Can we deal with our emotions better?

Can we have more perspective?

Can we build better connections, friendships etc?

These are my thoughts or perceptions, and there are so many positive things in terms of technology, social media etc.

Maybe this is a way for me to vent or ‘experiment’ further with quick fire journals of sorts.

This is not a perfect blog/site but I’m trying to make it authentic, creative and aesthetically pleasing.

Also, it is sort of a flow of conciousness, as it may appear to be, as someone with learning difficulties, it is helping me write on a regular basis (on quite a few levels), even it is rubbish and having a some sort of creative outlet is important in that respect.

It is what it is.

I am someone who is not the most naturally gifted in many senses, I have learning difficulties and have family problems (not too bad but are difficult) but I’m wired differently.

I am trying to get out of my comfort zone more, have more positivity in my life and be more productive.

It is the information age, new skills can be self taught, languages can be learnt, and podcasts in particular are useful to listen to like minded people, who are open minded, and connections can be felt through listening to them.

I don’t know, I don’t have all the answers, but I’m fed up of petty rubbish and am trying to surround myself around more positivity, creativity and more stimulating things.

My favourite ‘IDLES’ songs probably are, or least ones I relate to the most or the lyrics are striking to me are the following :-

‘Samaritans’

‘Mother’

‘Love Song’

‘Never Fight A Man With A Perm’

‘Danny Nedelko’

‘GREAT’
