Another GW? Are you mesin me? Really? There was one about 20 minutes ago wasn’t there?
Anyway,
Didn’t really change my teams much, but had at least one free transfer to use, now have two free ones at my disposal and the international break buys more thinking time (and a chance to reflect, experiment with ideas, soak up info etc).
A bit of a free swing ‘experimental’ GW.
Not everything goes our way in this game or in other games or in sport, I experience far more smooth than rough, and it is about being calm (yet with an edge) to figure out what the best decisions are to be made.
I don’t like taking players out for the sake of it but the nature of the game means it is flexible and sometimes doing something different can open up new effective, interesting and fun possibilities.
Sort of rolling the dice a bit.
I am finding this season pretty difficult, and at times I wonder why I bother (when it goes well is perhaps why) but fantasy football can be hard at the best of times but I’m taking it one game at a time, doing what I think is best to do, putting the points on the board (doing my side of it, given the many variables in the game, and how form/fixtures can be up and down with some teams/players) and going with the flow.
I’m not perfect at any football game, nor do I win every match (despite being at Expert Level) or win every head to head or have a perfect FPL history (I have a pretty decent one) but I try to be consistent in standards, performance levels and go at a decent rate, but my league wins, decent ranks or points totals over the years were achieved by mostly being calm, playing percentages, playing quite a template game but yet finding differentials to get more points (and finding ways to make it more fun or different), being persistent and having/needing * a bit of * luck.
I can be very self critical, even when I win, I am mostly calm, think of other ‘experiments’, think of what could be better, think of ways for my teams can be even more effective or grittier, or aesthetically pleasing or exciting and progressive, or different or ways of keeping things fresh, challenging and at their absolute best (as a team).
Perhaps I need to be less hard on myself (?).
I am someone who needs challenges, I thrive off them, I like to better myself.
But yet I am very mellow, I think it mainly helps, overall.
I’m usually pretty at a high level most of the time, and I like ‘experimenting’ along the way, and learning new things.
Experience helps, for me, it is the little bits of ‘nous’ that has helped me get to a high level, being street wise, astute and giving it absolutely everything.
I believe it comes from being passionate, enthusiastic, very open minded to different ideas, as well as lots of studying a lot of football, listening to games, being at games, listening to podcasts, watching documentaries etc.
Playing my wildcard in GW18 gave my season a massive boost, many green arrows and very big rises, as well as mading it more gripping, satisfying and rewarding, every GW is different and 2 million in the bank (in fantasy football that is) two free transfers and a few differentials in play is no bad thing.

• Some intriguing games this GW.
• A chance to make tactical observations.
• A opportunity to watch players who may be performing well.
• Possiblities to produce more content or get creative or stimulate my mind with sport.
• Or listen to games, get updates, look how other European leagues are going and/or watch highlights.
• PES ‘experiments’ continue.
• Listening to music inbetween games, being calm, it’s the weekend, whatever, one game at a time.
