– Uruguay force Ospina into some good saves late on but unfortunately struggle to break down Los Cafeteros.

An exciting 2014 World Cup continues with exciting scenarios & narratives await.
Exactly half (3) of the South American nations (6) have been eliminated from the 2014 World Cup; a 4th will be eliminated as Colombia & Brazil face each other in the quarter finals meaning that only 2 South American nations will remain in the tournament meaning that the chances of a European nation winning the World Cup in South America for the first time or a nation winning the World Cup from outside of South America or Europe for first time or a 9th different and new winner altogether (like Spain becoming the 8th different winner in South Africa 4 years ago) increases somewhat.
· 10 (Mexico, Costa Rica, Holland, Greece, Colombia, Nigeria, USA, Algeria, Switzerland & Belgium) of the 14 countries that remain in the tournament have never won the World Cup before.
· 5 of the 14 teams that remain in the 2014 World Cup (at the time of writing) represent either Central America or Africa – continents that have never produced a World Cup winner.
· Only once since Argentina held & won the World Cup in 1978 – the last time the World Cup was held in South America – has a host nation won the World Cup (France in 1998).
· Brazil, the nation to have won the most World Cups (5), would be only the third host nation to win the World Cup since 1978 if they were to do so – Argentina (1978) & France (1998) are the only teams to have done so in that time.
– Several nations such as Colombia, Greece, Costa Rica, Belgium & Nigeria are playing the knock-out stages of the World Cup either for the first time in their history or for the first time in over 10 years.
